Gas and Minimum Wage Perspective

May 18th, 2008 at 06:17 am

So it costs $4.00/gallon gas, yet most people only get paid minimum wage of $7.50/hour, and that is before taxes are taken out.

So, we are merely working to put gas in our cars. Not much left over for bills and groceries.

I pray for those people struggling.

    Very potent point...

I know slavery is way too strong a word, but people trying to support families on the minimum wage are almost like life-long indentured labour for the Finance industry & Energy industry... sobering thought...

It is easy to assume that only 3rd world nations struggle for the basics, yet it happens in the US, Ireland, Britain etc etc etc

  2. A Nonny Mouse Says:

Please note that minimum wage is NOT $7.50 everywhere. In fact, our minimum wage is going up to $7.40 from $7.15 on July 1st.

Actually, 2+ years ago, our minimum wages was only $5.15.
