Paid Property Taxes and Harvesting

August 26th, 2008 at 05:42 pm

Paid my property taxes totalling $998.61, so I removed that from the debt area.

I have been working on my kids curriculum, private classes and field trips. It is going to cost somewhere around $700 for the fall term.

Did some harvesting and baking today. My 16 y.o. daughter and I shredded a couple zuchinnis and got 7 cups out of them. We used two cups to make two loaves of zuchinni bread which is soooo good and froze the rest of the shredded zuchinni in 2 cup maximums and also put one zuchinni bread in the freezer.

We cleaned and cut up a butternut squash, made a pot of chili, a loaf of bread in the bread machine, enough pizza dough for two pizzas, which we devoured, and a chocolate chip cheesecake from scratch. We even made the chocolate chip cookies to chop in the mini processor to use for the crust.

Tomorrow we are headed to get peaches and tomatoes for canning. Also on our list is making some strawbery and raspberry jam, freezing blueberries, brocolli, corn and peaches and canning green beans, peaches and pears. I am also going to make a couple apple pies and freeze them. If I can locate some rhubarb, I will also make a couple strawberry/rhubarb pies for the freezer.

And when the acorn squash is ready, I will get a bushel of those from a local grower.

I love this time of year when all the fruits and vegetables are ready for harvest, but I am also sad that summer is ending.

Added to My Debt, but necessary and Organizing

August 5th, 2008 at 05:02 am

I added to one of my credit cards for some necessary to do's.

After much looking around, I decided to keep my Jeep instead of buying a new one. So I put it in the shop to get new brakes, rotors, tie rod end, shocks, rear seals and front-end alignment. The total cost - $1000.

Finished getting my youngest son's teeth fixed, costing $363.

And my youngest son's BMX bike needed tending to, cost $159.

I am actually feeling pretty good about it though. These are things that needed to be done and I am going to be paying off my Summer taxes and possibly Gardner White the beginning of September.

My ING account and Regular Savings Account (Freedom Account) are finally getting some money back in them (until September) when I will use most of the money from my Freedom Account to pay taxes.

I get paid on Thursday from my Beach job and that check will go into my Freedom Account to go towards debt in September.

Made a preliminary Christmas list and hoping to find most of the items either at garage sales, on sale or off of Craigs list and E-bay.

Finished up my two teenagers school curriculums and just need to purchase a couple books.

Need to finish buying the flooring for my living room before it is gone, painting, some drywall work, and hang curtains. I also need to get the leak in my roof fixed before the winter.

My garden is doing fairly well. I have watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes and raspberries. I do need to get some more blueberries and freeze them for the winter time.

Well, there is an update on me, now off to work.
