Had to Change My Spending Plan Again

May 3rd, 2011 at 06:07 am

I updated my "Spending Plan" on my sidebar.

After paying my regular expenses and with adding my new debt, I only have about $213.00 left over for groceries, gas, etc. Good thing the spring/summer season is here, cause I can get ahead with growing lots of our own food, canning, freezing and storing.

Although, right now our income has been a bit higher, because my husband has had a lot of work, that is not usually the case. I have been banking any extra income he has given me and have really sticking to my plan as outlined on my sidebar.

My goal is still save all of my money from my summer job which brings in somewhere around $3,000 for the season, and any extra income I have been getting from my husband.

If worse comes to worse, I can pull out some of that savings to pay off some debt, so we can still live within our means, but I really need to get us set up for the winter months ahead.

We do have a couple projects and items that need to be done or purchased this year.

*Re-drywalling our small bathroom with green board to eliminate mold, new window surround, baseboard and better vent to eliminate moisture.

*Lawnmower (ours was stolen last fall). We were given one yesterday, which keeps stalling out, so a friend is emptying the gas and changing the spark plugs to see if he can get it to stay running. But, it was free, so hopefully he can get it to work for us.

*Two apple trees to espalier for the front side of my home. Meijers has them right now for $20 each.

*Vegetable garden seed and plants. More canning supplies - hoping to find at garage sales throughout the summer.

*Working on my home business. I am going to plan and organize it through the summer months in a journal, so I can start right in on it this fall.

*Water magnets. Our water has a lot of iron and calcium and the magnets help with that problem.

*Two new burners for my stove. I have to light two of them with a match.

That is all I can think of off the top of my head. So here is to my new Spending Plan going smoothly.

Might you be given canning jars from your local Freecycle? Wish someone would have canning lids to give away! Wink

Ah, yes revising the plan. Good move! It seems people often don't revise and that is where they don't make smart money decisions.
