I turned 50.. Not so bad

May 20th, 2011 at 05:13 am

This past Monday, I turned the big 50. People tell me all the time that I don't look 50. I definately don't feel 50. But, I did find out that 50 brings simple presents like.

A big deducation on my insurances. I didn't know this. Not sure exactly how much, but when I was in the insurance office giving them my daughters transcript for her good student discount, the lady pulled up my account and said, Wow, 50, you get a discount also. Sweet.

I can now join the most awesome Senior Citizen Center located near my home for $175.00/year. It has a pool, workout room, trips and too many amenities to mention. The only problem is I might get mistaken for someone who works there and get asked to do something. Then, I would have to be mean and tell the senior citizen next to me to get his own juice and that I am here for the same reason...I'm old.

Lots of great simple gifts from my family. They know I lead a simple life and don't like things complicating it, so I ended up with tomato plants, a new curling iron, a gift certificate to eat out, a $25.00 check to put towards a new dress (that is what I was told) and scratch-off lotto tickets in which I reaped $33.00 from. I was taken out to breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks - all by different people and my whole birthday celebration lasted a total of four days. Now that is the way to celebrate.

I also picked up a new house cleaning client and cleaned her house this past week. Worked three hours to the tune of $85.00.

Plus, finished my last class and received my Certificate. I am now certified in Excel, Powerpoint and Word.

I am ready for what this next year holds for me being 50. This should be fun.
