Debt Be Gone and Gardening around the Cottage

July 15th, 2011 at 08:19 am

I was able to pay off the doctor bill and the car repair bill. Now that those debts are out of my way, I feel so much closer to my Debt Free goal.

I did transfer a little money from my savings, but I still have my emergency fund in place, due to my summer job income being directly deposited into my savings account.

I also have been digging out in my gardens today. Seems I have been so busy this summer that I haven't had a chance to play in the dirt. I have some Herbs that have gone viral, a Spearmint and Chives, so I have been digging them up. I re-planted some Spearmint and Chives in my large cement urns I have planking my stairway to the sidewalk. They look so great in there, plus they will grow every year and I won't have to re-do them for a while.

I also planted some other large pots, one with Spearmint and one with Chives, to give to my son to use at his home. I am really in need of getting rid of a lot more Spearmint, so I can make better use of that portion of my garden. I think if I can eliminate most of it, it will be great little place for a brightly colored painted bench, possibly in yellow or teal.

I can't even tell you how theraputic my day has been. I am not sure if it is the euphoria of eliminating debt or smelling all of the Spearmint, while digging it up, that has refreshed my soul.

My mom called me the other day and said something similar after digging in the garden... she said that it just leads her to feel so much better in general, both mentally and physically, and she didn't know if it was the dirt or the plants, but she likes it! Hey, it's nice to have some insurance that you can have an activity affect a positive change now and again...
